Meta (Facebook & Instagram) has strict requirements for the music they allow on their platforms. If your track includes ineligible content, Meta will block it — meaning it won’t appear on Facebook/Instagram or generate earnings there.
Below is everything you need to know to avoid issues before releasing through Amuse.
What Meta Does Not Allow
1. Public Domain or Non-Exclusive Audio
Meta rejects:
Public domain recordings
Classical performances you didn’t record
Spoken-word/performances you don’t own
Royalty-free catalog music or sound libraries
Tracks built from pre-made loops used as standalone songs
If others can legally upload the same audio, it’s ineligible.
2. Covers Without Full Ownership
Unlike other stores, Meta blocks most cover content unless you own 100% of the recording.
Not allowed:
Karaoke-style covers
Instrumental remakes
“Sound-alike” recordings
Covers using third-party backing tracks
If Meta can’t verify the recording is uniquely yours, it won’t pass.
3. Remixes, Edits & Derivative Works
Meta does not allow:
Remixes (official or unofficial)
Mashups
DJ mixes or sets containing other artists’ music
Slowed + reverb, sped-up, nightcore, edits, etc.
Any audio built from copyrighted material you don’t fully control
If you don't own the rights to all elements of the recording, it won't be allowed.
4. Unlicensed Samples
Meta does not allow:
Any sample you haven’t licensed
Audio lifted from films, TV, games, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
AI recreations of copyrighted performances
Even tiny or heavily altered samples can trigger a block.
5. AI Content That Mimics Real Artists
Allowed:
Original AI-generated music you create
Not allowed:
AI vocals mimicking real singers
Tracks recreating copyrighted melodies or recognizable performances
If it sounds like an existing artist, it’s ineligible.
6. Audio Already Claimed by Others
Meta may block your track if:
The same audio fingerprint is already in their system
Another rights holder has claimed it
The content has been previously flagged on Meta
7. Misleading or Policy-Violating Content
Prohibited:
Audio violating Meta’s community rules
Repetitive or spam-like uploads
Misleading metadata, artist names, or titles
Before You Release: Quick Checklist
Your track should meet all of these:
✔ I created and own 100% of the audio
✔ No samples or elements I don’t fully control
✔ No public domain, stock, or royalty-free catalog content
✔ Not a cover, remix, or edit unless I fully own the recording
✔ The performance is original and exclusive to me
If not, Meta will likely block it.
FAQs
Will this affect other platforms?
No - ineligibility applies only to Meta. Other stores have their own rules.
My track was accepted before - why blocked now?
Meta’s detection systems get updated often. Older tracks can be flagged later.
Can Amuse dispute the decision?
Most of the time, Meta’s ruling stands. Ensuring your content is fully original is the best safeguard.
