TikTok

Distribute your music to TikTok and turn your release into viral moments.

TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing, and discovering short videos. It hosts user-submitted content ranging from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. TikTok is available to all of our subscribed users.

TikTok users can add song clips from its extensive music library to their videos, which is where you come in as a music creator. When you choose to deliver your music to TikTok, people can use your tracks in the videos they upload. As one of the most downloaded apps in the world, it is a powerful platform for getting your music discovered.

Find your music on TikTok

Method 1 (In-video search)

  1. Tap the plus sign at the bottom of the screen. This will open your camera, and you will see “Add Sound” at the top

  2. Type your artist name and song title in full into the search bar

  3. Select your track, then use it in your video

Method 2 (Direct search)

  1. Open TikTok and tap the magnifying glass in the top right corner

  2. Type your artist name and song title in full into the search bar

  3. Categories will appear at the top. Tap “Sounds”

  4. Your song will appear there. You can listen by tapping the play button on the artwork

  5. To use the track in your video, tap the red camera icon on the right side

To ensure your track is properly detected on TikTok, we recommend selecting your music directly from the Sound Library in the app. If you add the music to your video before uploading, TikTok’s sound matching may not recognize the track. If this happens, we can request a manual match for you.

Become a certified artist on TikTok

  1. Log in to your TikTok account and go to the profile tab

  2. Tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner

  3. Select "TikTok Studio"

  4. Select "Artist Hub"/"TikTok for Artists" in the "More tools" section

  5. Tap the "Apply now" button

  6. Enter your full artist name to search for your artist profile in the TikTok library

  7. Find your artist profile and tap the "Claim" button

  8. Log in to Amuse and take screenshots, including the profile editing buttons, to show that you are the owner of the account. Please ensure the screenshot displays the artist name, album titles, and/or track titles in the screenshots

  9. Tap the "Submit" button

  10. Congratulations! Your application has been submitted successfully and you will get feedback within 30 days. The Music Tab and Artist Tag will be displayed on your profile once your request has been approved

Amuse does not create TikTok artist accounts or manage profile certifications. Artists are responsible for creating and managing their TikTok accounts.

Link your music to your TikTok profile

Currently, you need to have either a verified TikTok profile or a certified artist TikTok account to link songs to your profile. If you do not have either, there is no way to link songs to it.

If you have a certified artist TikTok account, you can troubleshoot sound mapping issues via the TikTok for Artists portal. Note that TikTok for Artists is not available in all countries. If it is not available in your country, request assistance by going to Profile > top right corner > Settings & privacy > Support & about > Report a problem.

Alternatively, you can go to TikTok’s Report a problem page.

Get verified on TikTok

There is no guaranteed way to get verified on TikTok. According to TikTok, several factors are considered before granting a verified badge, including whether the account is authentic, unique, and active. The number of followers or likes is not a requirement for verification. You will be asked to provide media that demonstrates your notability from reputable news sources. Other types of media will not be accepted.

Read more about TikTok verification here.

Here’s how to request verification of your TikTok account:

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom

  2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy

  3. Tap Account

  4. Tap Verification
༚ If you're registered as a Business Account, you can only apply for a business verification
༚ If you're registered as a Personal Account, you can apply for personal or institutional verification

  5. Tap Start, then follow the steps to submit a verification request

If TikTok doesn't grant you a TikTok verification badge after reviewing your application, you can submit another request 30 days after we notify you.

If you can't submit a verification request in the app, you can submit a request through their online form.

Change the start time of my track on TikTok

When you upload your release, you can choose the TikTok preview start time of each track as part of the upload process.

If you’d like to change the start time for an existing track that’s already been delivered, log in to your Amuse account, click the messenger box at the bottom right, and send us a message with:

  • The Amuse release ID(s)

  • The track name and ISRC

  • The desired start time (in seconds - e.g., 0:46)

TikTok video muted

There are a few reasons why videos get muted. Please check the following:

  • Is your TikTok account set to a Personal Profile rather than a Business Profile? Business Profiles can only use sounds from the stock library, not from the general music library where your music is included. You need a Personal Profile to use your music in videos you upload.

  • How long is your video? If your video is longer than one minute, you cannot use commercial music. In that case, you will only have access to the stock sound library when uploading longer videos.

Why can’t I use my music in ads?

TikTok does not allow the use of music from the commercial sound library in ads. You will need to use the stock sound library that is made available instead.

A workaround is to create a video using a third-party app (such as CapCut or Splice), add your song there, and then export it to your device. You can then upload the video as an ad with the audio already embedded. This way, you do not need to rely on the in-app sound library.

TikTok royalties

TikTok has recently changed its monetization model from creations to a per-view system. However, there is no fixed rate, as it varies depending on the territory of both the artist and the viewer, engagement, and other factors.

As with other platforms, keep in mind that it always takes a few months to receive the royalties that you earn. Read more about royalty payments here.
